Filmfare is back, with the

64th edition of Jio Filmfare Awards South 2017, to recognize the best of films in South

that hit the silver screen last year. Renowned actor, Dhanush along with Filmfare Editor,

Mr. Jitesh Pillai, marked Filmfare’s 64th year of commemorating and acknowledging the

South film fraternity by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Reliance Digital store at Kilpauk

Chennai.

The main ceremony of the 64 th edition of Jio Filmfare Awards South 2017 is slated to

take place on June 17th at HICC Novotel in Hyderabad and promises to be a grand

affair.

The film fraternity in the South has entertained the audiences for more than a decade,

and has marked their presence in the hearts of the audience from across the globe. The

spell-binding music, striking visuals and exceptional treasure of hidden talents, are some

of the defining features that the South film industry boasts of. Legendary artist like

Rajnikanth the biggest asset to the film fraternity as well as actors such as Kamal

Hassan , Dhanush, Prabhas, Ram Charan, Rana Daggubati and many others, have time

and again featured in Hindi films as well. Filmfare has provided these ace actors a

platform to reach out to a greater set of audiences, thereby helping them to further

showcase their exceptional skill set.

Commenting on the announcement of JIO Filmfare awards South 2017, spokesperson

Commenting on JIO Filmfare's 64th edition of their South awards, Editor

a global level. From the striking visuals to the extraordinary and gripping stories, the

South industry has played an imperative part in taking the Indian cinema a notch higher.

The Filmfare awards are a small step towards acknowledging the fraternity for their

remarkable contribution over the years.”

Actor Dhanush who graced the occasion by lighting the ceremonial lamp, said,

“Filmfare is prestigious. It encourages talent to give their best. I am fortunate to have

won Filmfare in the past. We look forward for Filmfare Awards every year even though

we don't win. Our relationship with Filmfare and Mr.Jitesh Pillai is special. I wish all the

very best for this year's Filmfare Awards”
