REPORT ON INDUCTION AND ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR THE MANAGEMENT TRAINEES OF NATIONAL TEXTILES CORPORATION LTD.,
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPITM) organized three days Induction and Orientation Programme from 23.10.2018 to 25.10.2018 for the Management Trainees of National Textiles Corporation Ltd.,(NTC)
The programme was designed in such a fashion that the participants were given inputs on the contemporary practices and developments in Textiles Sector, essential functional management skills and soft skills.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. C. Rameshkumar, Director-SVPITM in the presence of Dr. D. David Winster Praveenraj, Head-Management, Prof. S. Mohanraj, Head-Textiles, SVPITM and Mr.C.Ravindran, Finance Officer (Rtd) from NTC.
Dr.D.David Winster Praveenraj, Head-Management, SVPITM welcomed the participants and briefed about the programme. Prof. S.Mohanraj, Head-Textiles, SVPITM felicitated the gathering.
The programme started with the opening session by Mr.C.Ravindran, Finance Officer (Rtd) from NTC as he handled the session on Textile Costing and Inputs pertaining to Costing, Capital Budgeting and Marketing was given to the participants. Followed by that, Prof. S.Mohanraj, Head-Textiles, SVPITM interacted with the participants on sustainable textile technology. In the afternoon, session on Technical textiles was handled by Dr.A.Venkatachalam, Professor & Dean-Department of Textile Technology, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathyamangalam as he talked about the recent trends and advancements in textile industry.
The sessions on second day focused on imparting essential functional management skills. Dr.D.David Winster Praveenraj, Head-Management, SVPITM interacted with the students on developing their problem solving ability. Dr.M.Venkatalakshmi, Faculty of Management at SVPITM gave inputs on attitude and change management. Mr. B.Arun Karthik, Faculty of Management enlightened the students about group dynamics and how to work as a team. The participants were sensitized on the importance of contemporary leadership styles by Ms.V.Mathangi, Faculty of Management. Ms.V.Prithika, Faculty of Management gave inputs about the nuances of communication skills.
The session on day three was focused on sensitizing the participants about the soft skills required to be possessed to be accommodative and productive in their work place. The concepts were delivered through simulated activities, self-assessment tools and experiential learning activities. Dr.D.David Winster-Head-Management, Mr. B.Arun Karthik, and Ms. V.Prithika, Members of Faculty of Management at SVPITM administered the activities on group dynamics, conflict resolution, interpersonal skills and team building.
The participants were from various states of the country and they participated with profound involvement in the programme. They got benefited by the inputs given during the programme. The participants appreciated and were excited by the methodology adopted for delivery of the various sessions.
